January 3, 2015

Happy New Year, and welcome to worship! May God restore and bless us as we praise his name together.

This Morning the message is The Opposite is True. We will be starting a new year with a sermon series surrounding Jesus' Sermon on the Mount.  We begin with the Beatitudes to show that the Christian life is very different than our culture's view on how to live.

Next Week the message is Let it Shine.  After the Beatitudes, Jesus calls us the "salt of the earth" and "the light of the world".  This sermon will focus on how we can have a greater impact on others to insure that we are always bright and salty.

Weekly Bible Passage: We are concentrating on learning Bible passages in 2015. Each week you will get a Bible passage on a business card to review and learn. We are providing a snap ring so you can keep your Bible texts together. Reviewing the passage one or two times a day for 7 days should commit it to memory. At the end of the year you will have learned 52 new verses.
Be sure to pick up your ring and the first verse this week. You might want to consider putting your new key ring on the ring as well. This might even turn into something you can share with some co-workers.

Pancake Breakfast: January 17th we'll have a pancake breakfast. This breakfast is a time for fellowship and to help remind us about the importance of Sabbath School. Breakfast will be from 8:30 to 9:15am, so that we can all be to Sabbath School at 9:30am.

Flower signups: You can signup to provide the worship flowers for next year in the foyer. Thanks for helping with the worship service!

CREATION Health Series is starting in January on Wednesday evenings at 7pm. Invite your friends to come and get a healthy start to the new year. See the enclosed flyer for more info.

The message on January 17th is Love for Our Enemies.  During his Sermon on the Mount, Jesus asks us to love and pray for our enemies.  Jesus is telling us our need to be able to forgive those that have harmed us.  This Sabbath, we will reflect on how our anger or bitterness, can create a distance in our relationship with God.

Upcoming Dates to Note:

Jan 7 - CREATION Health Begins Week #1 at 7pm
Jan 17 - Pancake Breakfast

The flowers today are from the Aumacks. Happy Sabbath and Happy New year.

Good morning, one and all. May God be honored as we come before him in worship.

This Morning is Small Groups #5: Submit Yourself to God. Our culture certainly idolizes people with big celebrity personalities and their giant egos; however, God values a much different characteristic in all of us.  James writes, "humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up" (James 4:10).  This Sabbath will be a message of putting less emphasis on ourselves by putting God's will ahead of our own.

Next Week is Small Groups #6: Waiting Upon the Lord.  We will learn in our final sermon on our Book of James series that Christian maturity comes as we are able to be patient and even rejoice in our sufferings. James says, "as you know, we count as blessed those who have persevered" (James 5:11).

November 1, 2014

Welcome, brothers and sisters in Christ! It's good to be here together to worship our Lord.

This Morning is Small Groups #4: Using Your Words.  This is the fourth week of our small groups, and this message will be on the power of words.  James calls our tongues like "fire that corrupts the whole body."  As we grow in Christ, help us see how our words can influence others in positive or negative ways.

Next Week is Small Groups #5: Submit Yourself to God.

Our annual Fall Party is TONIGHT at 5:30pm. There will be some awesome fall food, a time of worship and then a time play some board or table games. This will be a fun evening!
Bring some of your favorite fall foods. Dig a favorite board or table game out of the closet. Invite a friend or two and join us for the Fall Party!

Daylight savings time ends Sunday, November 2 at 2am. Remember to set your clocks BACK one hour. Yea for an extra hour of sleep!

James says, "as you know, we count as blessed those who have persevered" (James 5:11).

In the name of our Triune God -- Father, Son and Holy Spirit -- welcome to this time of prayer and praise, Word and worship.

This Morning is Small Groups #3: Faith and Works - On our third topic of our small group, we will discuss the relationship between faith and works. While we believe that we are saved only by Jesus, James 2:24 writes, "You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone." Works is a direct result of an outpouring of the Holy Spirit which means that our walk with God should compel us to do his will.

Next Week is Small Groups #4: Using Your Words.  This is the fourth week of our small groups, and this message will be on the power of words.  James calls our tongues like "fire that corrupts the whole body."  As we grow in Christ, help us see how our words can influence others in positive or negative ways.

"This is the day that the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it" (Psalm 118:24, ESV). Good morning, and welcome to worship and Christian fellowship.

This Morning is Small Groups #2: Doers of the Word -  It is one thing to say we believe, but it is another to live by those beliefs. In James 1:23-24, it writes, "anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like."  The challenge is for us to comprehend and to be convicted by what God is constantly saying to us.

Next Week is Small Groups #3: Faith and Works - On our third topic of our small group, we will discuss the relationship between faith and works. September 6, 2014

Welcome to worship as we move from summer into fall. May we be blessed in one another's presence and in the presence of our Savior.

This Morning the message will be Eureka. Our message for our worship service will have a bit of a Western flavor to go with our "Parking Lot" party.  Jesus says this when we come to God, "Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ..."(John 17:3).  We all know that the western gold miners would shout out Eureka as they have found gold, but it is when we find Jesus is when we have truly found something.

Next Week  is Pathfinders' Sabbath. The Pathfinders will be leading out in our worship service. They are back from their Oshkosh Camporee trip, and will give highlights from their trip. Eagle Rock's Pathfinders Director, Steve Clement, will be our guest speaker.

TODAY is the Parking Lot Party. It's not too late to invite a friend. Bring some food to share and some chairs. The party gets started about 5:30pm.

This Morning is the final installment of our Who Are We series. The message is The New Earth.  The book of Revelation points to us that God will renew this Earth, and We believe that God's plan to end sin will be fulfilled, and we will spend the rest of eternity with God in our new home.

Next Week  the message will be Eureka.

Hawaiian Shirt Sabbath is today! Be sure to greet someone who is wearing a Hawaiian shirt/dress that you like.
