October 11, 2014

"Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ ... to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen" (Galatians 1:3, 5, NRSV). Welcome to worship!

This Morning is Small Groups #1: The message is Dealing with Trials. We will see how we can find blessings in the midst of our struggles. The challenges that we face every day are actually opportunities for growth. According to James 1:12, he writes, "Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him."

Next Week is Small Groups #2: Doers of the Word -  It is one thing to say we believe, but it is another to live by those beliefs. In James 1:23-24, it writes, "anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like."  The challenge is for us to comprehend and to be convicted by what God is constantly saying to us.

It's Not Too Late: Join a small group as we study the book of James.  James is a very practical book. It a study that will help your spiritual walk in a very real and tangible way. Sign up for a group in the foyer.

October 25th - SG #3: Faith and Works - On our third topic of our small group, we will discuss the relationship between faith and works. While we believe that we are saved only by Jesus, James 2:24 writes, "You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone." Works is a direct result of an outpouring of the Holy Spirit which means that our walk with God should compel us to do his will.
