Welcome to the Downey Adventist Church!

Welcome! May you find joy and hope in this place of worship. We are God's children, so welcome one another with that in mind.

This Morning the message is Honesty, Integrity and Work. The Bible says, "for the love of money is the root of all evil" (I Timothy 6:10).  Love for money will reveal a person's character, and this sermon talks about the importance of how character matters in all things especially as it relates to our finances.

Next Week the message is Saving and Investing. Wisdom from the Bible says, "precious treasure and oil are in a wise man's dwelling, but a foolish man devours it" (Proverbs 21:20; ESV). God has given us the resources to fulfill His purpose for our life, and a wise man will be intelligent with their money on how they spend or save it. When we do follow God's principles on finances, we are able to live with a greater sense of freedom and the way God intended us to live.

Celebration Sabbath is Nov. 21st. Our small groups will be sharing their experiences. Also, we will be sharing a Thanksgiving Luncheon together. So please sign up to bring some food and join us!

Remember to set your clocks back one hour tonight. Also change the batteries in your smoke detectors.

Kitchen Utensils: If you have borrowed something from the kitchen (pots, pans, knives, etc.), please return them. We seem to have quite a few things missing. Thank you.

November 14th the message is Rewards of Financial Faithfulness. We conclude our Faith and Finance sermon series with a call for patience. Jesus told John, "look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done" (Revelation 22:12). When we live less for the immediate satisfaction that comes from squandering and temptation, we are able to make choices that have eternal value.

Welcome to the Downey Adventist Church!

Each of you is important to God and to us as well. May you find here God's grace, and be blessed by this worship service. Welcome!

This Morning the message is Dealing with Debt. In our third installment of our Faith and Finance small group series, we will talk about how slavery is very much still with us today. Proverbs 22:7 writes, "The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is a servant to the lender."   While we live in a time where it is so easy to be in debt, we need to protect ourselves from being enslaved by mortgaging our future so we can live beyond our means today.

Next Week the message is Honesty, Integrity and Work. The Bible says, "for the love of money is the root of all evil" (I Timothy 6:10).  Love for money will reveal a person's character, and this sermon talks about the importance of how character matters in all things especially as it relates to our finances.

Yard Sale: We raised $925 for our sprinkler system. Thank you for your support!

Welcome to the Downey Adventist Church!

We welcome everyone present and pray that God's love and joy are stirred up within each of us today.

This Morning the message is Looking at Giving. Peace of mind comes when God is in control of our lives.  After all, Proverbs 11:24 says, "One gives freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want". We demonstrate that God is in charge of our finances by our tithe and offerings, and therefore, we can have a financial peace mind which can be very elusive to our world today.

Next Week the message is Dealing with Debt.

Yard Sale: Our Yard Sale is tomorrow! We will be raising money for our new Sprinkler System. Please donate your usable items AND come out on the 18th to acquire some amazing, pre-loved treasures.  Thank you for your support!

Our small groups have started, but it's not too late to join a group. Sign up in the foyer.

Welcome to the Downey Adventist Church!

“Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ… to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen” (Galatians 1:3, 5, NRSV). Welcome to worship!

This Morning our Small Group series begins with the message Why Money Management is Important. On this Sabbath, we are starting a new small group series called Faith and Finance, and in the first sermon of the series, we will study how often money is brought up in scripture.  We know that finances are such an important part of our lives, but how do we relate to money as Christians?

Next Week the message is Looking at Giving. Peace of mind comes when God is in control of our lives.  After all, Proverbs 11:24 says, “One gives freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want”. We demonstrate that God is in charge of our finances by our tithe and offerings, and therefore, we can have a financial peace mind which can be very elusive to our world today.

Yard Sale: Our next Yard Sale is next week! We will be raising money for our new Sprinkler System. Please donate your usable items AND come out on the 18th to acquire some amazing, pre-loved treasures.  Thank you for your support!

Our small groups will be starting up again on Oct. 10th. The theme for our Fall study is Faith and Finance.
Please sign up for a group in the foyer. It’s not too late if you want to host a group, talk to Pastor Cary or Bill.
