Welcome to Downey Church! May our unity as the body of Christ be an ongoing blessing to one another.

This Morning the message is Living Waters. Many Christian are living as if they are spiritually dehydrated, and our final sermon of the Drought Resistant Christ will follow the words of Jesus when he said, "whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life" (John 4:14)

Next Week the message is The Rest of Our Lives. As we celebrate Labor Day weekend, this Sabbath's message will be on how to truly have a rest that can only be given by God. "There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God's rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his" (Hebrews 4: 9,10).

International Day is coming Sept. 26. Be thinking about your hertiage and some food and an outfit to wear. More info to come soon.

Our small groups will be starting up again on Oct. 10th. The theme for our Fall study is Faith and Finance.
We are looking for Small Group Leaders and Host Homes. If you are interested, or may be interested, please talk to Pastor Cary or Bill Aumack.

Invite your friends and family to our annual Parking Lot Party on this afternoon. The theme this year is a Fiesta. Some come on out, bring a bit of food to share, some chairs to sit in and join us for the evening!

The message on Sept. 12th is Who is in Charge?  The Bible reveals that Christ has authority over all things as the Bible says, "he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy"  (Colossians 1:18).  With all that being said, have you allowed Christ to be the authority of your life?

The psalmist declares: "My heart and my flesh sing for joy to the living God" (Psalm 84:2, NRSV). Let us join in song and praise to the God who showers us with grace.

This Morning the message is Jesus the Rabbi.  For this Sabbath, we are having a teacher's dedication and we are reminded that Jesus is our ultimate teacher.  In the feeding of the five thousand, we see Jesus' motivation for teaching us as Mark writes, "When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things" (Mark 6:34).

Next Week the message is Living Waters.

Teacher Dedication Sabbath: Today we will have a Teacher Dedication for our school teachers and Sabbath School teachers.

Invite your friends and family to our annual Parking Lot Party on Saturday, August 29th. The theme this year is a Fiesta. Some come on out, bring a bit of food to share, some chairs to sit in and join us for the evening!

Welcome to this time set aside for worship and Christian fellowship. We need this break from the busyness of the world -- even in summer. Pause and relax in the arms of Jesus.

This Morning the message is Flooding with Joy. Do you remember singing the song, I got joy like a fountain? God wants us to have that joy as John writes, "Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them." (John 7:38)

In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, we welcome you to worship. Please greet those worshiping near you.

This Morning the message is God's Filtering System.  This sermon will be about how many of us today have water purification systems at homes to clean our water but the Bible uses water to symbolize how God cleanses us. As the Word says, "I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols." (Ezekiel 36:25).
