Welcome to the Downey Adventist Church!

Welcome to 2016, welcome to Downey Church and welcome to our first worship service of the year!

This Morning the message is How Much Do You Need? Bill Aumack will share a message about having access to God's power. Is that a constant? Or does it vary? Duet. 33:25 says "as thy days, so shall thy strength be." What does that mean for us?

Next Week the message is Changing It Up #1. The Bible calls for us to be a new creation as Paul wrote, "if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!"(II Corinthians 5:17).  As the New Year has come, we are reminded of changes that we need to make. In reality, it is only when Christ is in our lives that real change can ever occur.

The memorial service for Ray Fernandez is tomorrow at 1pm here at the church. Please join us as we remember our dear friend Ray.

Our small group series Agape starts on Feb 6th. If you would like to host a small group please talk to Pastor Cary or Bill. Thanks.

Sign up for Flowers! Be sure to sign to help provide flowers next year for the worship service. Sign ups are in the foyer.

The message on January 16th is Changing it Up #2. This Sabbath's message will be a follow up from the 9th.  To make a real change in our lives, it is often said that we need to have will power. What we really need is less of our will, and that happens when we learn to surrender everyday and allow Jesus to be the one that is directing our path.

Welcome to the Downey Adventist Church!

Welcome to our last worship service of 2015. God is Lord of all time and eternity, so we walk with him -- and one another -- into all that the new year brings.

This Morning the message is The Day After. While we are very much still in the Christmas season, Christmas Day has come and gone, so now what?  We will learn the principles that come from following Joseph's journey. We obviously know that the birth of Jesus is just the beginning, and there was still so much more for Joseph as life goes on.

Next Week the message is How Much Do You Need? Bill Aumack will share a message about having access to God's power. Is that a constant? Or does it vary? Duet. 33:25 says "as thy days, so shall thy strength be." What does that mean for us?

Be sure to take a picture for the Church Directory! This is the last week.

Thank you to everyone who brought cookies and helped with our Community Christmas Worship last week. It was a wonderful service. Praise the Lord.

Sign up for Flowers! Be sure to sign to help provide flowers next year for the worship service. Sign ups are in the foyer.

The message on January 9th the message is Changing It Up #1. Welcome to the Downey Adventist Church!

Welcome to Downey Church as we worship, learn and serve together. An especially warm greeting to our guests.

This Morning the message is Rewards of Financial Faithfulness. We conclude our Faith and Finance sermon series with a call for patience. Jesus told John, "look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done" (Revelation 22:12). When we live less for the immediate satisfaction that comes from squandering and temptation, we are able to make choices that have eternal value.

Next Week is Celebration Sabbath. After every small group series, we spend a Sabbath highlighting the experiences from each of our small groups. The groups will share what they learned from the past six weeks, and we will conclude the series with a celebration fellowship dinner that brings us all together.

Celebration Sabbath is Nov. 21st. Our small groups will be sharing their experiences. Also, we will be sharing a Thanksgiving Luncheon together. So please sign up to bring some food and join us!

The annual production of The Journey to Bethlehem, hosted by San Gabriel Academy, will be presented on the evenings of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, December 4-6, from 6:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. This interactive journey and musical concert is free to the public. Outdoor journeys depart throughout the evening. Bring your family, friends, and neighbors. For more details and directions, visit our website at www.thejourneytobethlehem.org.

The message for November 21st is God is Good. For this Thanksgiving weekend, we will have a message that reminds us of all the amazing things that God does for us. The Psalmist says, "with my mouth I will give great thanks to the Lord; I will praise him in the midst of the throng" (Psalm 109:30; ESV). It is so important to uplift God in praise and also uplift each other with encouragement.

Welcome to the Downey Adventist Church!

Welcome to worship and fellowship in the body of Christ. Peace be with all who gather here.

This Morning the message is Saving and Investing. Wisdom from the Bible says, "precious treasure and oil are in a wise man's dwelling, but a foolish man devours it" (Proverbs 21:20; ESV). God has given us the resources to fulfill His purpose for our life, and a wise man will be intelligent with their money on how they spend or save it. When we do follow God's principles on finances, we are able to live with a greater sense of freedom and the way God intended us to live.

Next Week the message is Rewards of Financial Faithfulness. We conclude our Faith and Finance sermon series with a call for patience. Jesus told John, "look, I am coming soon! Kitchen Utensils: If you have borrowed something from the kitchen (pots, pans, knives, etc.), please return them. We seem to have quite a few things missing. Thank you.

Thanksgiving Luncheon: Join us on Celebration Sabbath (Nov. 21) for a Thanksgiving Luncheon. Sign up to bring some food to share in the foyer.

Welcome to the Downey Adventist Church!

Each of you is important to God and to us as well. May you find here God's grace, and be blessed by this worship service. Welcome!

This Morning the message is Dealing with Debt. In our third installment of our Faith and Finance small group series, we will talk about how slavery is very much still with us today. Proverbs 22:7 writes, "The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is a servant to the lender."   While we live in a time where it is so easy to be in debt, we need to protect ourselves from being enslaved by mortgaging our future so we can live beyond our means today.

Next Week the message is Honesty, Integrity and Work. The Bible says, "for the love of money is the root of all evil" (I Timothy 6:10).  Love for money will reveal a person's character, and this sermon talks about the importance of how character matters in all things especially as it relates to our finances.

Welcome to the Downey Adventist Church!

We welcome everyone present and pray that God's love and joy are stirred up within each of us today.

This Morning the message is Looking at Giving. Peace of mind comes when God is in control of our lives.  After all, Proverbs 11:24 says, "One gives freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want". We demonstrate that God is in charge of our finances by our tithe and offerings, and therefore, we can have a financial peace mind which can be very elusive to our world today.

Next Week the message is Dealing with Debt.

Yard Sale: Our Yard Sale is tomorrow! We will be raising money for our new Sprinkler System. Please donate your usable items AND come out on the 18th to acquire some amazing, pre-loved treasures.  Thank you for your support!

Our small groups have started, but it's not too late to join a group. Sign up in the foyer.
