January 3, 2015

Happy New Year, and welcome to worship! May God restore and bless us as we praise his name together.

This Morning the message is The Opposite is True. We will be starting a new year with a sermon series surrounding Jesus' Sermon on the Mount.  We begin with the Beatitudes to show that the Christian life is very different than our culture's view on how to live.

Next Week the message is Let it Shine.  After the Beatitudes, Jesus calls us the "salt of the earth" and "the light of the world".  This sermon will focus on how we can have a greater impact on others to insure that we are always bright and salty.

Weekly Bible Passage: We are concentrating on learning Bible passages in 2015. Each week you will get a Bible passage on a business card to review and learn. We are providing a snap ring so you can keep your Bible texts together. Reviewing the passage one or two times a day for 7 days should commit it to memory. At the end of the year you will have learned 52 new verses.
Be sure to pick up your ring and the first verse this week. You might want to consider putting your new key ring on the ring as well. This might even turn into something you can share with some co-workers.

Pancake Breakfast: January 17th we'll have a pancake breakfast. This breakfast is a time for fellowship and to help remind us about the importance of Sabbath School. Breakfast will be from 8:30 to 9:15am, so that we can all be to Sabbath School at 9:30am.

Flower signups: You can signup to provide the worship flowers for next year in the foyer. Thanks for helping with the worship service!

CREATION Health Series is starting in January on Wednesday evenings at 7pm. Invite your friends to come and get a healthy start to the new year. See the enclosed flyer for more info.

The message on January 17th is Love for Our Enemies.  During his Sermon on the Mount, Jesus asks us to love and pray for our enemies.  Jesus is telling us our need to be able to forgive those that have harmed us.  This Sabbath, we will reflect on how our anger or bitterness, can create a distance in our relationship with God.

Upcoming Dates to Note:

Jan 7 - CREATION Health Begins Week #1 at 7pm
Jan 17 - Pancake Breakfast

The flowers today are from the Aumacks. Happy Sabbath and Happy New year.
