Welcome to the Downey Adventist Church!

"How good it is to sing praises to our God!" (Psalm 147:1, NRSV). Welcome to worship, as we join our voices in song to God our Father.

This Morning the message is With All Your Heart. Jesus was once asked what were the most important commandments, and he said to love God with all your heart and to love your neighbor as yourself.  This Sabbath, we will attempt to figure out how to make that even possible.

Next Week the message is Nothing Can Separate Us. This Sabbath, we study God's limitless love for us. Paul asks the question that with God interceding, who can separate us from the love of Christ (Romans 8:35). We understand that no matter how much we fall, God will never stop loving us.

Downey's Got Talent! Join us on Feb. 27th at 5:30pm for a dinner and talent show. This is a fund raiser for the church, so you'll need to purchase a ticket. See Maggie or Evelyn for tickets. If you have a talent to share, let us know! We are looking for all kinds of talent, music, sleight of hand, comedy, juggling, whatever. If you have a talent, we'd like to see it.

Celebration Sabbath is coming. Sign up to bring some food to share in foyer. After lunch, we'll have different opportunities to reach the community. Plan on staying on March 19.

March 12th the message is If You Love Him. For our final small group sermon, we will follow the verses of John 21:15-25. During the time that Peter was asked by Jesus if he loved him, Jesus revealed to Peter that the prove of his love for Jesus was shown by Peter's willingness to feed Christ's sheep. God's love for us was always meant to be shared.

This Morning the message is Undeserving.  One of the harshest realities in life is to come to grips with our sinful nature. During those times, we realize how little we deserve the mercy and love that God gives us, but Paul writes, "Christ died for the ungodly" (Romans 5:6) This message will reveal God's love for us even when we have done nothing that makes us worthy for it.

This Morning the message is Know Love, Know God.This message answers the question why nothing is greater than love as I John 3:7 says "Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God.  Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God." The core of God's character is love and as we seek to understand God, we will ultimately understand the deepest meanings of love.

This Morning we start the Agape small group series. The first message is Nothing is Greater. We will follow 1 Corinthians 13. The theme of the chapter is that without love everything that we do for God is meaningless.

Next Week the message is Know God, Know Love.This message answers the question why nothing is greater than love as I John 3:7 says "Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God.  Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God."  The core of God's character is love and as we seek to understand God, we will ultimately understand the deepest meanings of love.

Pathfinder Convocation is today at the White Memorial. All of the Pathfinders, leaders and parents are there today. We pray they have a great experience with all the other Pathfinder clubs.

Sunday, January 31st from 4 to 6 P.M. we will host the Taste of Health Cooking and Health Seminar in the fellowship hall. There will be a hands on cooking demonstration and a health seminar on the benefits of vegetarianism. Dinner is also included. There is a $6 fee for the event.
